Darrick Carter, PhD

Director of Formulations

 


Darrick Carter is Director of formulations at IDRI, where he applies his experience in the development process necessary to take vaccines and therapeutic candidates from the lab to the clinic. He has participated in the development of vaccines and cancer therapeutics and led the process development of the first recombinant vaccine for tuberculosis. He has authored over 20 peer-reviewed papers and is co-inventor on more than 50 patent applications and issued patents.

Dr. Carter was born in Rome, New York, and grew up in the United States and Germany. He received his bachelor of science summa cum laude in 1993 from the department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon. His PhD was awarded in 1997 by the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon. In addition to his work at IDRI, Dr. Carter hosts a web site for protein chemists and has founded a company, Protein Advances Inc., to research the use of artificial intelligence in drug discovery.
