Cynthia Healy

Cynthia has served on IDRI’s Board of Directors since June of 1996. She is a consultant for venture capital investors and biotechnology startup companies. Cynthia held the position of Director of Life Science Research at the venture capital firm, Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers (KPCB) from 1992 -1999, and has been involved in the incubation stage of numerous companies in the life science sector including Corixa, Geron, Khepri (Celera), Pharmacopeia (Ligand), Signal Pharmaceuticals (CellGene), Synteni (Incyte) and Genomic Health, all now public companies. Cynthia came to KPCB with 11 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Prior to KPCB, she managed drug discovery projects in inflammation and immunology at CIBA Geigy Corporation (Novartis). During this time, Cynthia led the preclinical development of a novel anti-inflammatory drug leading to IND submission and clinical development. Before joining CIBA Geigy, Cynthia performed research at the Roche Institute of Molecular Biology and published numerous articles on cellular immunology and inflammation. Cynthia holds a PhD from New York Medical College in Pharmacology and a BS in Chemistry from the College of White Plains. She has served on the Board of Directors of Argonaut Technologies, Synteni and Iconix.
