Sharon Busby, PhD
Director, Project Management
Sharon heads the Project Management group that
coordinates all of IDRI's projects in diagnostics, vaccines,
and drug discovery. She brings broad biotechnology and
pharmaceutical industry experience in research and
development to IDRI's nonprofit mission. Sharon has
engaged in all stages of the drug development cycle from
discovery to late stage clinical trials and has contributed to
the development of protein therapeutics for autoimmune
diseases, B-cell malignancies, and disorders of
thrombosis/hemostasis. Her background includes strong
laboratory research and recombinant protein production
experience, as well as international alliance management.
Prior to IDRI, Sharon held positions in program
management, business development, and research at
ZymoGenetics, Inc.
Sharon received her BA at Rice University in Houston,
Texas, and her PhD from the University of Washington. She
also received post-doctoral training in molecular biology at
Fred Hutchison Cancer Center prior to her career in industry.
