N. Susantha Chandrasekera
Postdoctoral Scientist
Susantha is an organic chemist working as a Postdoctoral Scientist in the TB Drug Discovery group at IDRI. His research focuses on design, synthesis, and development of small molecules as drug candidates for the treatment of tuberculosis.
Prior to joining IDRI Susantha worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Illinois. His research involved the synthesis of organic compounds as inhibitors of intestinal bowels disease. He also worked as an adjunct faculty member in chemistry at Morton College.
Susantha received his PhD from the University of Illinois. His graduate research focused on the development of azasugars to treat hepatatitis and herpes and on the synthesis of natural products in cancer chemoprevention.
