Today, IDRI is launching “Infectious Insights,” our new blog devoted to sharing more about our work, as well as our thoughts on what is occurring in the world of global health.
You’ll hear directly from our scientists and staff about their work and their views on how IDRI fights the burden of infectious diseases. You’ll read profiles of our employees and follow a scientist through a day in the lab. Our goal with “Infectious Insights” is to engage you in conversation about global health. So, please comment and let us know what you think, as well as what you’d like to learn more about.
We want to introduce to you a few changes related to how we refer to IDRI. While our full name (Infectious Disease Research Institute) is descriptive, it doesn’t indicate the very critical work we do in product development. So, in the future, you’ll see less of our full name and more of our acronym (IDRI – pronounced “id-ree”) accompanied by our new tagline, which offers a better description of what we do, from basic research to product development: “Transforming Science into Global Health Solutions.”
And, after several months of conversation with employees, board members, partners and stakeholders, we have new mission and vision statements, as well as a set of values, that we believe clearly reflect who we are, what we do and what brings us to work every day.
This is IDRI:
MISSION: We apply innovative science to develop products to eliminate infectious diseases of global importance.
VISION: A world in which infectious diseases are either prevented or rapidly diagnosed and treated using products that are available to all people.
VALUES:
We look forward to engaging with you about global health, the work being done at IDRI and how you can get involved.
