Jill Ashman, MSc
Senior Clinical Research Manager
Jill Ashman joined IDRI in February 2003 as a Clinical Epidemiologist to develop and implement clinical trial protocols for the Leishmania vaccine. She is currently the Senior Clinical Research Manager.
Jill was born in England and raised in Uruguay. She graduated with a BSc (Hons) from St. Andrews University in Scotland. After working in research labs in London, Jill joined Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO) and spent 11 years living and working in Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala and the San Blas islands in Panama. In 1978 she co-founded the non-profit healthcare program, AgroSalud, for migrant agricultural workers in Guatemala. In 1990 Jill obtained her MS in Epidemiology from the University of Washington. She has worked at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, the University of Washington, the Center for AIDS Research (CFAR), and the Statistical Center for HIV and AIDS Research and Prevention (SCHARP) where she coordinated HIV vaccine and microbicide trials in the US, Africa, Trinidad, Haiti and Brazil. After a hiatus working as cook on boats in SE Alaska, Jill returned to clinical research where she has found her niche at IDRI.
