Malaria

Every 30 seconds a child dies from malaria.

Though malaria has been eradicated in North America and Europe, up to 40% of the world’s population, living in the poorest countries, is still at risk due to increased resistance to standard drugs and insecticides. Each year in sub-Saharan Africa, malaria causes severe illness in 500 million people. The youngest victims, children under 5, bear the greatest burden of this preventable disease: Every 30 seconds a child dies from malaria.

Using its adjuvant and formulation capabilities, IDRI has joined forces with the PATH Malaria Vaccine Initiative (MVI) and others in the global effort develop a safe and effective malaria vaccine.
